Chicago Cubs 1956 MLB Authentic Wool Ballcap

THE AUTHENTIC ON-FIELD BALLCAP OF THE 1956 CHICAGO CUBS

History: Between 1953 and 1963, during what came to be known as the “Decade of Change” in baseball, six teams moved to new cities and four brand new ballclubs joined the majors.

Throughout this period many teams used the ‘wishbone C’ mark, including Cleveland, Cincinnati, and — briefly — the Chicago Cubs. Though the rounded Cubs logo we see today eventually became the standard, the red wishbone was a striking look that, combined with the electric blue introduced in 1937, made for an iconic and underappreciated on-field uniform.

Ebbets teamed up with Mitchell & Ness to create the Decade of Change Collection, honoring the era with period-accurate ballcaps like this one — handmade in the U.S.A. from genuine wool broadcloth and featuring the flat embroidery style typical of the time.
