History: The Mussels, if not one of the biggest success stories in minor league baseball history, certainly were unusual. Like the earlier Portland Mavericks of the same league, Victoria was a haven for castoffs and oddballs. Bill Murray even took the field for one game when he was inserted into the lineup. The SNL star managed a single off of a blooper pitch, but was tossed by the umpire. Sadly, the Mussels lasted only two seasons despite having winning records both years.
